Payment Methods
Payment methods in CliqMenu are configured per location. This means you can offer different payment options at different locations depending on your setup. For example, one location might accept cash and card only, while another also offers online payments.
Customers see the available payment methods when placing an order and choose the one they prefer.
Available Payment Methods
Cash at Counter
The customer pays with cash when they arrive to collect their order. The kitchen receives the order immediately, and payment is settled face-to-face at pickup.
- No surcharge is applied to cash payments.
- No additional setup is required.
Card at Counter
The customer pays with a card (Visa, Mastercard, or AMEX) using your EFTPOS terminal when collecting their order. The kitchen receives the order immediately, and payment is handled at pickup.
- A surcharge may apply, depending on your surcharge settings. See Surcharges & GST for details.
- You need your own EFTPOS terminal at the location.
Online
The customer pays online via Stripe Checkout before the order reaches your kitchen. Supported payment methods include credit card, debit card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
- A surcharge may apply, depending on your surcharge settings.
- Requires Stripe to be connected to your CliqMenu account. See Setting Up Online Payments for the setup guide.
- Orders are only sent to the kitchen after payment is confirmed.
Online payments reduce no-shows because the customer has already paid before the order is prepared. This is especially useful for high-volume periods.
Enabling Payment Methods
You can enable any combination of the three payment methods for each location. To configure them:
- Go to Business Details in BMS.
- Select the location you want to configure.
- In the Payment Methods section, toggle each method on or off.
- Save your changes.
You must enable at least one payment method per location. If no payment methods are active, customers will not be able to place orders at that location.
Changing Payment Method on an Order
When an order comes in, the Order Manager (the person handling orders on the OMS screen) can change the payment method before accepting the order. This is useful when a customer changes their mind at pickup — for example, they selected "Cash" but want to pay by card instead.
When the payment method is changed, the surcharge is recalculated automatically based on the new method. The updated total is reflected on the order immediately.
Only the Order Manager can change the payment method. Customers cannot change it after submitting the order.
